Jumping the gun

Here’s something I’ve been thinking about a lot. I mean I’ve been thinking about a lot of things, but here’s one of the recent projects I’ve wanted to do:

I want to write a song entitled Up In Lights. I already know the basic premise of the song - it’s mostly just a braggadocio wordplay track but with a few deeper thought out points embedded into it. I want this track to be designed from the ground up for me. That means not a stolen beat, so I want to work with a beatsmith on it to achieve my vision of this song. So far this is very easily achievable (Depending on how willing the beatsmiths I have at my disposal are willing to put up with me).

I want to put Up In Lights on Idiot Zoo as sort of the “single,” as it were. As if I have “singles.” But I mean, I want this to be the big track, now here comes the less realistic part. I want a music video for it. I can perfectly envision this music video. It would be really cool, and look really awsome… if it transmuted from my mind the way I see it. But it would be very difficult, time-consuming, and expensive.

It’s not that the actual idea of the video I have is unrealistic, it’s just difficult. It would involve a lot of lights. A lot of lights. Lots and lots of lights. And a space in which to shatter lots and lots of lights. And a big board built with lights that say “StarF.” It’s a very elaborate video idea that would look very neat.

I want it to happen.
