PROcrastination
I’m a pro at procrastination, it’s obvious. Okay well I guess that’s not completely fair to say, I have legitimately been busy these past few months. There’s been times in the past where I neglected raps even though I had plenty of time to be working on them, but this time I’ve really just been up to so much. Balancing a social life with two jobs and everything else that comes up in life is hard to do, but I manage to get it done. One of the reasons I haven’t been recording or even working on new stuff too much lately was that I was in performance mode, practicing for a show I played last week in Wichita, Kansas - which was incredible by the way! I opened for MC Frontalot, and strangely enough ended up playing a bigger crowd than he did that night (Yeah, go explain that one).
I could actually talk about that trip a lot, and it would be completely relevant to this blog, but I think I’ll just try to keep this one short, and instead opt to try to keep this updated more frequently as now I’m in creative mode. The status for the Stalker music video? Shit, I think it’s dead. I had it all lined up and ready to go, and then the girl who was supposed to play my victim dropped out of the video, and then life got really busy. Plus the owner of the camera I was borrowing reclaimed it, so now if I want to shoot it I’m back to the Flip. I suppose as a last resort I could just take the Flip around outside and actually stalk some girls, then splice in some random footage of me performing the song. That’d almost be better, right? …Right?
I digress though, let’s talk about actual music, I have three main projects right now, and I actually recorded a song today for one of them! That’s right, I recorded a song for the first time in months, so it’s a little bit… off. I have a feeling that my next release is going to feel a little subpar, because it will indeed be me getting back on my rap feet, but I hope you’ll all enjoy it. The next release will be called The Rappening, and is going to be another split EP with Mattari 2600, much like We’re Working On Stuff, We Swear!. Also similar to that release, this one will be done very quickly, and mostly just on the basis of just for fun and just to show that we are, indeed, doing something. I believe we’ll each have three solo tracks, and collaborate on two of the tracks, bringing The Rappening to an eight track total.
After I get back on my feet I’ll dive right back into Idiot Zoo, and also my next album album, which currently has a title I’m not going to divulge. We’ll get there eventually though. My plan is to work on songs every day after work, for at least an hour. I’m not saying I’m going to record a song every day, but I am going to write, rap, practice, or so something involving it every day that I can. Or at least that’s the current plan. I may be busy as hell, but what’s life without working on your passions? If I end up just working two jobs and sleeping without doing anything… what’s the point? I need to get stuff done.
And with that, I will try to keep my blogging habits up as well. I will keep you all up to date on The Rappening, and for now I say: Let’s all get some shit done!
