So many raps, so little time

So it’s been awhile since I’ve written an actual blog entry here, or really since I’ve done anything rap related. Lately my life has been going through waves of random productivity. I’ll have a lull where I think “Perfect, time to dedicate this week to rapping!” and then suddenly life comes up again. This time it came up in the form of a second job, getting a new car, and moving out (Which will be happening in a couple weeks), so getting work done with my music has been sort of hard. I’ve written a couple of rough drafts of songs, one of which I posted on here, but recording simply hasn’t been happening. I have a lot of songs that I want to do though, so hopefully between this whole busy mess I can fit some rapping in!

There’s a collab that I’m doing with Vanilla Rice, or VR, or Audacious… I’m not sure what he’s officially going by right now, but he’s a really cool dude who I battled in an RT (errr… NCN) tournament recently (Like a month ago). We set up a collab, but like a dick I haven’t recorded my part yet. I hate it when I have to keep telling people “Yeah, sorry, I’m getting to it, I swear…” So right now that song is at the top of my priority list for when I do get a good chunk of time to record. I’ve tried to record it a couple times in the last month, but for some reason I just cannot get it to sound right. I don’t know if I was just having off days, or if the beat is just clashing with my voice forever, but I wasn’t feeling it. But I swear, I will get it done eventually. Sometimes my projects take forever to come to fruition, but damnit I get things done once I set out to do them.

Speaking of projects that will probably not exist outside of my head for quite some time, I wanted to do a series of small EP’s entitled Stories, which would be very short concept EP’s that tell, well, stories. They would range anywhere from 15-30 minutes a piece and include both song and story-telling elements. I already have three themes for the stories lined up in my head, one of which is going to be a collaboration with a good friend who has been wanting to work with me on something like this for quite some time. He’s a fantastic story writer as well, so I think that one will be the spotlight for this series. The working title for that particular project is Goodnight, Goodbye, but I won’t tell you anything else about it. Unfortunately, like I said, these projects will probably take months to even get rolling but I do plan on making them happen.

The two main projects I’m still working on right now more than anything are Idiot Zoo and then a collection of more upbeat and fun songs because let’s face it, Empty Handed was depressing. Cool, sure, but it wasn’t exactly fun. And even though it was completely genuine, it doesn’t totally reflect who I am as a person. Yes, everything about it came from the heart, but I’m not a depressed or dark person to be around, so I really want my music to reflect that as well. Also, it’s fun to write, record, and perform bouncy upbeat music. I’m not saying that it’s gotta or gonna be mindless party jams, but it will definitely be more laid back than my usual work.

The Stalker music video is stuck in stasis. I’m ready to go, but the girl who was going to play my victim in the video is having trouble getting out here I guess. I suppose now that I have my own car this will be easier to rectify, but I also lost the camera. I didn’t lose it, but the person I was borrowing it from wanted it back, so I currently don’t have it. I may just decide to shoot the damn video on my Flip, just because I absolutely need to get this done, and especially before the snow hits. Once snow hits, it’s all over until next year, so I’m going to strive to make that happen as soon as I move as well.

All in all, I’ve got a lot of work to do, but life happens sometimes, so currently I’m focusing on the whole moving out thing more than anything else, but I’m still here and still thinking up ideas for the future!

Oh! And before I forget, everyone should definitely download Mattari 2600’s new EP entitled How To Train Your Flammie. It’s awsome, and absolutely free, so grab it right here!

Oh yeah, and another thing to mention real quick! I have a show coming up in October! It will be in Wichita, Kansas, on the 25th! I’ll be opening for MC Frontalot! Look at that, dreams do come true! Hahaha. But seriously, I’m super excited about this show, and hope to see a lot of people there! It’s going to be tons of fun! More info here!

Anyway, that’s all I want to cover for now. Over and out!
